One of the most common laments one hears these day among the more politically aware is something like “I never thought I’d see 1984 happen in my lifetime.”
Meaning that the person expected the world to revert to totalitarianism sometime later this century, as Communist China grew in power and the West declined, and as resource scarcity causes political tensions to flare up. But they but did not expect it to happen just yet — or in a free country.
Yet with the rise to power of authoritarian globalists, that moment seems to have arrived. It is happening now, though incrementally and through deception. Most people have not yet caught onto it. Many are afraid to admit it. It’s far easier to be in denial.
It feels emotionally safer to say “it will all be over soon.” No, it will not. Not without a struggle against the tyrannical powers assumed under the pretext of “emergency powers.” Those who gleaned enormous profit and power from lockdowns and vaccines are not likely to give them up so easily. Why would they? Power corrupts absolutely.
The Founding Fathers of the U.S. knew that state tyranny always posed a danger, which is why they put safeguards in the Constitution against it – but these safeguards have been dismissed or bypassed in clever ways (e.g., the White House getting Facebook to do its censorship for it, rather than doing it directly, which is against the First Amendment).
The use of “emergency powers” is the most common pretext for violating our inalienable rights, it would seem. If they can declare that an unremarkable respiratory disease with a low mortality and transmission rate is an “emergency” — and we let them — then they can get away with anything.
With mandatory vaccines for certain groups, such as health workers and teachers and police, and vaccine passports now coming into effect in certain regions, and with the rise of censorship, comparisons with Orwell’s dystopian novel, 1984, seem inevitable.
That 1950s novel was based on the despotism suffered by those in the U.S.S.R. Orwell wrote it as a warning to us to not let the same thing happen in the West. Yet his warning seems to have gone unheeded as billions of people have suspended rational thought and succumbed to an irrational fear of a disease with a 94 to 99% survival rate in response of mass media propaganda.
So how accurate are the comparisons?
– Surveillance state. Check.
– Double-think. Check.
– Increasing state control of our lives. Check.
Those who capitulate to the new global order seem to believe this is really about controlling a disease, and that this will all end soon. They believe that governments and medical authorities and the media always tell the truth, and have our best interests in mind. I wish that were so.
One wants to believe that, and for the worry and feeling of despair to disappear. But in fact, a “pandemic” is simply a pretext for the seizure of absolute power by a few over the many. It is a Trojan horse tactic, using our instinctual fear of disease to control us.
The new biosecurity state will be permanent unless there is a worldwide revolt against it. We are moving from a relatively free society to state tyranny in stages.
“No one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it.” – Orwell, 1984
How are people led to believe that a disease that has a low mortality and transmission rate is a deadly “pandemic” sufficient to justify emergency powers? Orwell gives us the answer:
“Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.”
More quotes from 1984 (in italics) that are applicable to the present moment, with a comment below each.
“In some ways, she was far more acute than Winston, and far less susceptible to Party propaganda. Once when he happened in some connection to mention the war against Eurasia, she startled him by saying casually that in her opinion the war was not happening. The rocket bombs which fell daily on London were probably fired by the Government of Oceania itself, “just to keep the people frightened.”
Just as the mainstream media works to keep us frightened. Lockdowns have been more devastating than bombs in their effect, killing millions and destroying lives and businesses. To impose a lockdown is like carpet-bombing a city.
“The choice for mankind lies between freedom and happiness and for the great bulk of mankind, happiness is better.”
Most people want creature comforts and are not willing to sacrifice everything to fight the state, even if it’s wrong and is robbing them of their freedoms. But in the long term, if enough people can be persuaded to abdicate freedom, it will create a society that’s also profoundly unhappy, eg. those who have suffered under Communist regimes.
A few are willing to sacrifice themselves to fight injustice when they see it, which reminds of what Jesus said: “Greater love than this no one hath, namely that one should lay down his life for his friends” – John 15:13
“Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.”
This speaks to the way that this has been a psychological operation (psyop) from the start, designed to break us down in degrees.
Piers Robinson, co-director of the Organization for Propaganda Studies, said “COVID-19 is probably one of the biggest propaganda operations we’ve seen in history because of the global nature and the resources put into it. It was pretty clear from the beginning that propaganda was being employed.”
“In the U.S., one of the main spigots of propaganda has been Dr. Anthony Fauci and the media’s elevation of him to god-like status, hanging on his every word and never pressing him to provide data to back up his constantly swerving pronouncements.
“Every Western government has its version of Fauci [in Canada it’s Dr. Tam], spouting ever-changing, confusing information meant to keep the population off balance, afraid and confused. A fearful, dazed, and weary public is less able to resist the dizzying array of draconian policies coming from governments, from facemask rules and incessant testing to quarantines of the healthy and mandatory mass vaccinations.” Source
“Orthodoxy means not thinking–not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness.”
This orthodoxy takes the form of belief and trust in the state and media and state-sanctioned medical authorities; the heterodox are those who are skeptical of these authority figures and who prefer freedom to state tyranny.
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
This quotation reminds me of the trend to rename everything and tear down the past in deference to political correctness, e.g., Dundas Street in Toronto is being renamed (); historic statues are torn down.
It is also reminiscent of the widespread social media censorship against so-called “misinformation” and new Internet censorship laws being imposed in Canada, and the total complicity of the mainstream media in terms of spreading fear and compliance.
“The object of terrorism is terrorism. The object of oppression is oppression. The object of torture is torture. The object of murder is murder. The object of power is power. Now, do you begin to understand me?”
The object of masks is masks. The object of lockdowns is lockdowns. The object of vaccine mandates is vaccine mandates. It’s always about power.
“One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship.”
The revolution, in this case, is the shift in power from liberal Western democracies operating on Enlightenment principles to a global biosecurity state, through the use of emergency powers, aided by media propaganda. They orchestrated the “new normal” in order to impose a dictatorship.
“The masses never revolt of their own accord, and they never revolt merely because they are oppressed. Indeed, so long as they are not permitted to have standards of comparison, they never even become aware that they are oppressed.”
This is why this revolution has been implemented in stages, to accustom us to subjugation by degrees, so it becomes “the new normal” and future generations simply become used to being treated like cattle. Incidentally, it’s also wrong to treat cattle this way.
“Winston Smith: Does Big Brother exist?
O’Brien: Of course he exists.
Winston Smith: Does he exist like you or me?
O’Brien: You do not exist.”
Under collectivism, individuals do not exist. Only the state exists and we only exist insofar as we are subordinate to it. We see how that works in places like China and North Korea: political dissidents are put into gulags or murdered – in some cases turned in by family members. It is as though they never were.
Those who comply do not exist either in a sense, except through the state. It’s dehumanizing. We are getting to that point, slowly, in degrees. Today, the “unvaccinated” are being scapegoated and fired. In the future, they’ll be imprisoned. They will be non-persons, except in the eyes of God. But according to totalitarian states, God does not exist either. The state is god.
“In the long run, a hierarchical society was only possible on a basis of poverty and ignorance.”
Putting tens of millions out of work with lockdowns, and destroying small businesses has ensured a massive transfer of wealth away from the masses to the hands of large corporations such as Wal-Mart and Amazon, and the Big Pharma corporations. This process had already begun with free trade in the mid-1990s and through the usurpation of jobs by robotics and other technologies.
Now the trend towards Universal Basic Income (UBI) and government dependence will ensure the long-term poverty of the masses. Ignorance and obedience to the state are ensured through censorship and indoctrination in public schools.
In the future, a highly hierarchical technocracy will emerge — is emerging now even now — that will disempower the great mass of humanity and ensure its servitude and compliance. Eventually, we will be considered expendable. Australia’s new police state is a window onto our near future.
“The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture, and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from ordinary hypocrisy: they are deliberate exercises in doublethink”
The Ministry of Health in Canada advocated lockdowns, which killed more people under 65 than Covid-19 did, according to Statistics Canada.
So-called Human Rights Commissions in Canada enforces censorship which violates freedom of speech, which is an inalienable human right. Mary Agnes Welch, president of the Canadian Association of Journalists, says that “human rights commissions were never intended to act as a form of thought police, but now they’re being used to chill freedom of expression on matters that are well beyond accepted Criminal Code restrictions on free speech.” [NB – this must be an old quotation, because journalists in Canada now do not seem to believe in freedom of speech]
Now Canada’s House of Commons has passed a controversial internet regulation bill (C-10) that would force social media sites to remove content deemed “harmful” within 24 hours. And a proposed bill, C-36, would go further and block alleged “hate speech” – even though that term is purposely left vague and up to the interpretation of the censors. It could mean any disagreement with the state.
Canadian Internet censors and social media sites are also targeting so-called “misinformation” including statements by prominent scientists who’ve expressed concern over the public health effects of lockdowns, masks mandates for children, and experimental mRNA technology.
“So long as they (the Proles) continued to work and breed, their other activities were without importance. Left to themselves, like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina, they had reverted to a style of life that appeared to be natural to them, a sort of ancestral pattern…Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer, and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.”
During lockdowns, people retreated en masse to entertaining distractions online (movies, Internet, video games), myself included. Protests against lockdowns were prohibited in some places (including Nova Scotia).
Exploring alternative points of view that deviate from the state-approved narrative is discouraged — and will eventually be blocked in Canada by Internet firewalls, just as is done in China, and violators fined, if proposed federal internet laws are passed.
The state would prefer for people to be distracted with mindless entertainment than think for themselves. As Kant notes, it’s always easier to let someone else do your thinking for you.
“Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end, we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it.”
So-called “misinformation” and “hate speech” and “conspiracy theory” are the new terms for what Orwell in 1984 terms “thoughtcrime.” This trend started with the rise of political correctness in the 1980s and has accelerated with the bowdlerization of speech, such as government enforcement of preferred pronouns.
Renaming things is important to create deception and bias: a drug that is not a vaccine is called a vaccine and a disease outbreak that is not a pandemic is called a pandemic. Thus anyone who opposes this drug is an “anti-vaxxer” even if they are for the use of actual vaccines.
The restriction of thought and self-censorship in Communist nations, out of fear of the state and censure by others, is what we’re headed towards. It’s already started.
Smith wrote in his journal, “To the past, or to the future. To an age when thought is free. From the Age of Big Brother, from the Age of the Thought Police, from a dead man – greetings!”
My writings, and those of others, are similar to this greeting in a way. I am writing in an age when we still enjoy some freedom, even though we know they’re fast disappearing. Will what I write ever be read by future generations, or will it be deleted or if printed, burned, as in Fahrenheit 451?
“It was curious to think that the sky was the same for everybody, in Eurasia or Eastasia as well as here. And the people under the sky were also very much the same–everywhere, all over the world, hundreds or thousands of millions of people just like this, people ignorant of one another’s existence, held apart by walls of hatred and lies, and yet almost exactly the same–people who had never learned to think …”
Due to the rise of the consumer monoculture, we’re fast becoming like this. In an authoritarian state of the near future, individuality will be punished and conformity rewarded. We’re divided by lies and identity politics.
The government in Canada likes to amplify and create racial division where none exists. And now the new division of vaccinated and unvaccinated is being amplified and the non-conformers scapegoated. Healthy people are being treated as though they’re diseased.
“In a way, the world−view of the Party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it. They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality, because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them, and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice what was happening. By lack of understanding, they remained sane. They simply swallowed everything …”
This describes those who accept everything the mainstream media and state-approved medical authorities and state officials tell them about what’s happening.
How can anyone with the use of reason believe that a disease with such a low mortality rate poses enough of a danger to warrant the measures that have been imposed? Because they learn to subordinate their reason to fear. If not fear of the disease, then fear of authorities figures and the mob who are willing to scapegoat them for deviating.
“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. ‘Who controls the past’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.”
We see this happening to us now. The official narrative of what’s happening is what constitutes truth and history. Everything, every other point of view, else is “misinformation” and wrong, we’re told.
“But it was alright, everything was alright, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.”
Our submission to the state’s position — and giving them absolute power — is very important to them. They want to break us, which is why they imposed lockdowns and promoted race riots. Both were used to demoralize and divide us.
They seem to be willing to commit any kind of crime to achieve power. Untold numbers (likely more than the Covid deaths themselves) have died of lockdowns, due to lack of access to medical care and from depression, leading drug overdoses and suicide. That`s mass murder. It is a battle for the minds and souls of people using media-generated fear. There is no room left for the individual if they have achieved their objective.
“Already we are breaking down the habits of thought which have survived from before the Revolution. We have cut the links between child and parent, and between man and man, and between man and woman. No one dares trust a wife or a child or a friend any longer. But in the future there will be no wives and no friends …There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards the Party. There will be no love, except the love of Big Brother … There will be no art, no literature …”
Facebook is already encouraging users to report the alleged “extremism” of fellow users. Reporting people for thought crimes will become the norm, as is the case in Communist countries.
“An Australian husband and father was taken against his will from his own home and was sent to a mental health facility for a psychological assessment because of his views on COVID-19.”
The state is to control everything and become like a god. The family and children are to be sacrificed on its altar. Literature is already being censored in schools.
We now see the rise of the social conditioning of children to become transgender, and state enforcement of the same by making it a crime to counsel a young person before they subject themselves to life-altering mutilation (gender surgery) — even though many of them will later regret it.
“He was a lonely ghost uttering a truth that nobody would ever hear. But so long as he uttered it, in some obscure way the continuity was not broken. It was not by making yourself heard but by staying sane that you carried on the human heritage.”
This describes me in the midst of this – and a few others who are speaking out.
