Catholic troops can refuse COVID vaccine, Archbishop declares –“No one should be forced to receive a COVID-19 vaccine if it would violate the sanctity of his or her conscience,” Broglio wrote.
 | 12 Oct 2021 | Catholic U.S. troops should be allowed to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine based solely on conscientious objection and regardless of whether abortion-related tissue was used in its creation or testing, the archbishop for the military declared in a new statement supporting service members who are seeking religious exemptions. “No one should be forced to receive a COVID-19 vaccine if it would violate the sanctity of his or her conscience,” said Archbishop for the Military Services Timothy P. Broglio, in a statement released Tuesday… In his new statement, the archbishop said that while he still encourages followers and troops to get vaccinated, some troops have questioned if the church’s permission to get vaccinated outweighed their own conscious objections to it. “It does not,” Broglio wrote.

Vermont: 76% of COVID deaths in the state during September were among the vaccinated –Covid rising faster among vaccinated Vermonters | 12 Oct 2021 | Positive Covid-19 test cases are up in highly-vaccinated Vermont while declining nationally, Vermont Department of Health reported today. Covid-19 positive cases last week were higher per capita among vaccinated Vermonters than unvaccinated. While positive cases are on the wane nationally, positive tests in 88.7% vaccinated Vermont are up 26%. Vermont had 14 Covid-19 deaths this month through October 11. Published data offers no breakdown in vaccinated-unvaccinated deaths…[Why?] There were definitely some vaccinated fatalities, he said, which he said is to be expected with a vaccine with a 90-95% effectiveness rate. By September 25 last month, 76% of Covid fatalities were vaccinated. Positive test cases among the fully vaccinated rate rose 7.1% last week, compared to 6.9% among the “not fully vaccinated.”

[NB – the CBD says Vaccine breakthrough cases are expected. COVID-19 vaccines are effective and are a critical tool to bring the pandemic under control; however, no vaccine is 100% effective at preventing illness. Some fully vaccinated people will get sick, and some will even be hospitalized or die from COVID-19]

Lawmakers seek federal grand jury investigation for COVID-19 statistical manipulation
–“Public health policy must be based upon accurate and independently verifiable data,” and CDC and FDA aren’t providing it, Oregon state senators tell U.S. attorney. | 10 Oct 2021 | The CDC adopted a “double-standard exclusively for COVID-19 data collection” that inflated cases and deaths starting early in the pandemic, violating multiple federal laws and distorting mitigation policies, Oregon lawmakers told the feds’ top lawyer in the state. Advised by “a large team of world-renowned doctors, epidemiologists, virologists, and attorneys,” state Senators Kim Thatcher and Dennis Linthicum petitioned U.S. Attorney Scott Asphaug to approve a grand jury investigation into how the pandemic is being measured. “Public health policy must be based upon accurate and independently verifiable data to optimize outcomes and strengthen the public’s trust in the people leading them through this crisis,” the Republican lawmakers, whose state has imposed some of the harshest and longest COVID restrictions, wrote in a letter with several attached exhibits.

Federal Judge Rules Against Natural Immunity Claim Challenging COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate [bad news]| 10 Oct 2021 | A federal judge on Oct. 8 denied a request to block Michigan State University’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate on the basis of natural immunity. An employee at the school, Jeanna Norris, filed a lawsuit against the mandate and asked a judge to intervene on the basis that she had already contracted COVID-19 and recovered. She presented two antibody tests showing her previous infection, and her doctors told her that she didn’t need to get the vaccine at this time. Despite her natural immunity, Norris faces termination from the university for not complying with the school’s mandate that all students and staff get the shot unless they have a medical or religious exemption. U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney, an appointee of former President [sic] George W. Bush, declined her lawsuit.

Federal judge rules in favor of health care workers seeking religious exemption to vaccine mandate | 12 Oct 2021 | A federal judge in New York granted a preliminary injunction Tuesday in favor of 17 health care workers applying for religious exemptions to the state’s COVID-19 mandate. U.S. District Judge David Hurd’s injunction, which is effective statewide, temporarily bars New York State from forcing employers to fire medical workers seeking a religious exemption… Hurd also left the door open for an appeal, writing, “Because the issues in dispute are of exceptional importance to the health and the religious freedoms of our citizens, an appeal may very well be appropriate.”

Court Sides With Unvaccinated Michigan Athletes in Mandate Case | 9 Oct 2021 | Sixteen unvaccinated athletes won another round in their legal battle to play sports, despite Western Michigan University’s mandate that all of its inter-collegiate athletes get the COVID-19 vaccination shot. In a unanimous published decision issued Oct. 7, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati, Ohio, held that the university violated the athletes’ First Amendment rights. All 16 athletes had filed for religious exemptions, which, according to the court, the university “ignored or denied.” The three-judge panel denied a request by the university to stay a lower court’s preliminary injunction that stopped it from enforcing the vaccination mandate.

16 more Connecticut state employees fired over Gov. Lamont’s vaccine mandate, bringing total to 28| 13 Oct 2021 | An additional 16 Connecticut state employees have been fired due to failing to comply with Gov. Ned Lamont’s vaccine mandate, officials said Tuesday. That brings the total to 28 employees who refused to be vaccinated or tested weekly, said Max Reiss, Lamont’s chief spokesman. All 28 were probationary employees, in their first six months on the job, who have fewer labor protections than longer-term employees.

Missouri Hospital CEO Issues Warning About Staffing Shortages Over Biden Vaccine Mandate | 12 Oct 2021 | The CEO of a hospital system in rural southeastern Missouri warned that Joe Biden’s announced COVID-19 vaccine mandate for most healthcare workers could trigger significant staffing shortages. “Our reality is we need staff to work. And in return for your working, we’re not going to ask you to get a vaccine mandate,” Scotland County Hospital CEO Randy Tobler told CNN in an interview published Tuesday. “There were people in the hospital that freely shared that if the vaccine mandate happened on our account or on anyone else’s, they would not work here. That’s just something they weren’t going to put in their body.” Noting that he’s lost about 18 percent of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tobler said that he cannot afford to mandate vaccines that would alienate even more staff. The mandate, he said, won’t make the nurses want to get vaccinated but will instead prompt them to quit.

Hundreds of Michigan health care workers quit after refusing COVID-19 vaccine | 11 Oct 2021 | One of Michigan’s largest health care systems says approximately 400 of its workers have quit rather than get a required COVID-19 vaccine. Henry Ford Health System confirmed Tuesday that about 1% of its workforce left their job at the hospital over its mandate to get a coronavirus vaccine, according to FOX 2 Detroit. Another 1,900 – or about 6% of the workforce – were granted religious or medical exemptions from the vaccine. On June 29, Henry Ford became the first health system in Michigan to announce a vaccine requirement for its workforce.

Top Ohio hospitals requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for transplant candidates, donors | 12 Oct 2021 | Two of the largest hospitals in Northeast Ohio will now require their transplant candidates and living donors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Cleveland Clinic patients currently on the waiting list to receive an organ transplant from a deceased donor have until Nov. 1 to meet the new policy. Patients who do not meet the vaccination deadline will be made inactive on the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) waitlist. Meanwhile, University Hospitals, which will also implement a vaccination policy for patients and living donors in the UH Transplant Institute, did not say when it would officially take effect.

Seattle vaccine mandate could jeopardize public safety as hundreds of police officers face possible termination | 11 Oct 2021 | Seattle, the liberal city that still pursues defunding police, could lose a significant portion of its police force this month as officers who refuse to comply with a COVID-19 vaccine mandate risk termination. Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan (D) announced in August that all Seattle city employees would be required to be fully vaccinated. To comply with Durkan’s order, city employees, including Seattle police officers, are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination or their exemption from the mandate by Oct. 18. Personnel who fail to provide proof of either risk being fired. The mandate has put the Seattle Police Department in a bind because, according to KCPQ-TV, 292 sworn personnel have yet to submit proof of vaccination. To compound problems, Seattle PD spokesperson Sgt. Randy Huserik told KCPQ that an additional 111 officers were awaiting decision on exemption requests.

NYC’s Unvaccinated Teachers Need to Waive Right to Sue for One Year of Health Benefits | 11 Oct 2021 | Aside from being put on unpaid leave, New York City teachers who’ve declined to get the COVID-19 vaccine won’t be allowed to keep their health benefits for another year unless they give up their right to sue the city over its vaccine mandate. This condition was the result of an arbitration invoked by the city’s largest teachers union, the United Federation of Teachers (UFT). The union touted the arbitration verdict as a victory that forced the city to acknowledge medical and religious exemptions to the vaccination. It also allowed the teachers to take a year of unpaid leave with continued healthcare coverage or voluntarily resign with unused sick days paid out and a year of continued health insurance.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott bans ‘any entity’ from enforcing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate –The order applies to both employees and consumers who refuse to receive the vaccine | 11 Oct 2021 | Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order banning “any entity” in the state from enforcing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Abbott’s executive order prohibits “any entity” in the state from compelling an individual to receive a COVID-19 vaccine “who objects to such vaccination for any reason of personal conscience.” The order applies to both employees and consumers who refuse to receive the vaccine due to “religious belief, or for medical reasons, including prior recovery from COVID-19.” The order will also “supersede any conflicting order” that has already been made by local jurisdictions, authorizing the “maximum fine” allowed under Texas law for any entity that fails to comply with the order.

Florida State Board Sanctions Eight School Districts for Defying Ban on Mask Mandates | 8 Oct 2021 | The Florida Department of Education on Thursday sanctioned eight Florida school districts for defying the state’s ban on school mask mandates. School districts in Brevard, Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, Leon, Miami-Dade, Orange and Palm Beach counties now face financial penalties. Commissioner Richard Corcoran reported to the board that none of the eight counties had provided any information proving that they were in compliance with state law before Thursday’s meeting. “They can’t pick and choose which parts of the law they want to follow,” Corcoran said as he was handing out the penalties to the school districts. He also gave the districts 48 hours to amend their policies before the penalties went into effect.

Biden holds vaccine mandate event at business owned by major campaign donor –Clayco CEO Robert Clark gave more than $100,000 to Biden and $1.6 million to Democratic campaigns | 7 Oct 2021 | Joe Biden delivered remarks Thursday about vaccine mandates for businesses at an Illinois construction site run by a company whose CEO has donated millions to Democratic campaigns. Biden spoke in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, at a site affiliated with Clayco, whose CEO Robert Clark gave 1.6 million to Democratic campaigns in 2020, according Federal Election Commission records. At least 116,000 of those donations were to Biden’s presidential campaign. The Biden campaign listed Clark as someone who “raised at least 100,000 for our campaign and affiliated joint fundraising committees.” Clayco affiliates donated 387,037 to Democratic campaigns in 2020.

New York Times Forced to Admit it Inflated Number of Children Hospitalized by COVID to 14 Times Higher Than Reality | 9 Oct 2021 | The New York Times was forced to issue a correction admitting it had inflated the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations of children by more than 800,000. The Times published an article Wednesday discussing the possibility of single-dose COVID-19 vaccines for children. In the original version, reporter Apoorva Mandavilli wrote “[n]early 900,000 children have been hospitalized with Covid-19 since the pandemic began.” On Thursday, the Times corrected the article to say “[m]ore than 63,000 children were hospitalized with Covid-19 from August 2020 to October 2021.”

Record 4.3 million Americans quit their jobs in August | 13 Oct 2021 | [Thanks to Biden’s insane vaccine mandates,] Americans quit their jobs at a record clip in August, a new government report said Tuesday, with restaurant and hotel workers leading the mass exodus. A whopping 4.3 million people quit two months ago, the most on record dating back to December 2000 — and 300,000 more than in July, according to the Labor Department report. The August quits are the equivalent of 3 percent of the US workforce. Hiring in August also plunged sharply — down to 6.3 million from 6.8 million in July — despite the number of available jobs remaining near record high levels. [NB – the mandate is not law as yet, so this may have been premature]

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed immaturity ... the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This immaturity is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the [European] Enlightenment. "Laziness and cowardice are the reasons why such a large part of mankind gladly remain minors all their lives, long after nature has freed them from external guidance. They are the reasons why it is so easy for others to set themselves up as guardians. It is so comfortable to be a minor. If I have a book that thinks for me, a pastor who acts as my conscience, a physician who prescribes my diet [or vaccine], and so on--then I have no need to exert myself. I have no need to think, if only I can pay; others will take care of that disagreeable business for me. Those guardians who have kindly taken supervision upon themselves see to it that the overwhelming majority of mankind ... should consider the step to maturity, not only as hard, but as extremely dangerous. First, these guardians make their domestic cattle stupid and carefully prevent the docile creatures from taking a single step without the leading-strings to which they have fastened them. Then they show them the danger that would threaten them if they should try to walk by themselves. Now this danger is really not very great; after stumbling a few times they would, at last, learn to walk. However, examples of such failures intimidate and generally discourage all further attempts. "Thus it is very difficult for the individual to work himself out of the immaturity which has become almost second nature to him. He has even grown to like it, and is at first really incapable of using his own understanding because he has never been permitted to try it. Dogmas and formulas [e.g., Leftist ideology, identity politics] these mechanical tools designed for reasonable use--or rather abuse--of his natural gifts, are the fetters of an everlasting immaturity. The man who casts them off would make an uncertain leap over the narrowest ditch, because he is not used to such free movement. That is why there are only a few men who walk firmly, and who have emerged from immaturity by cultivating their own minds." - Kant, "An Answer to the Question: What is Enlightenment"

  1. But is it really about forcing people to get a covid shot? I mean the government FORCING people…
Peer pressure, that’s where it’s really at. Friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, even people on the street.
    I call it covid harassment.
Don’t ask, don’t tell. – But people are still going to ask, and they will want an answer. Are you vaccinated? Why don’t you care?

    1. That’s a great point. It’s clever the way they’ve done that: getting everyone around us to be the jailor. Like the Panopticon, a conceptual jail in which one is seen all the time and thus controlled through fear by other inmates:

“The concept of the design is to allow all prisoners of an institution to be observed by a single security guard, without the inmates being able to tell whether they are being watched. Although it is physically impossible for the single guard to observe all the inmates’ cells at once, the fact that the inmates cannot know when they are being watched means that they are motivated to act as though they are being watched at all times. Thus, the inmates are effectively compelled to regulate their own behaviour.”
